Lord Cry Cry

About Lord Cry Cry
After working in a steel mill and disregarding encouragement to become a Woolworths manager Lord Cry Cry, born Chris Donaghue, studied Law at Oxford University then Clinical Psychology. He worked as a psychologist in Kent then moved to Berlin to write a novel, join a band, build a snowman, schlep coal, and collect bottles. Just because he could. He completed a Masters degree in sound design and classical music composition in Berlin this year. This is his first solo vinyl release, after providing many a musical piece for various short European films.

Another random MySpace find, but boy WHAT a find. Berlin-based Lord Cry Cry has blessed BFT with an album of dark, cinematic moods, comically interlaced with tracks that effortlessly combine lounge, jazz, ragga, ska, dubstep, jungle, hip-hop and easy listening.

The new Blunt Force Trauma release by Lord Cry Cry! (Press Release)

See and hear the record HERE

Honking trumpets? Breasty ragga vocals and slick double-bass twangin’?
A Prince Buster tune, cussing and some snooker balls? Well my good man, this can only be the next release from Blunt Force Trauma!

This double dose of ska-lounge-cum-ragga-get-down is a most handsome successor to BFT’s first release. Lord Cry Cry pours every inch of his classically-trained ear for detail into this lovingly produced re-working of One Step Beyond, twinned with the rude Raw F*ck. Sweet-talking your backslide into a strange grooving action, this pair of beauties has slapped a large and toothsome grin in the face of every listener, including the likes of DJ Food, Rob Luis (Tru Thoughts) and Jon Kennedy. Huw Stephens gave the record its first analogue spin last week - listen here.

Artwork is by renowned New York photographer Anthony Saint James with Lord Cry Cry tattoo by Inkymole. Vinyl heads will enjoy the blue dinked vinyl wrapped around a red 45rpm adapter by our sister company Factoryroad. For digital DJs, the download card with 7 tracks includes ‘Make my P-Funk The Funk’, a track exclusive to this format, along with Mac/PC and iPhone wallpapers Ooh - you DO have a fulsome package there, sir!
Liking the buttocks? We’ve got unfolded versions of that sleeve here too; just ask if you want some to brighten up your boudoir.

Alan Titmash

alantitmash

BFT’s first release was the unstoppable sampling mash-up that is Alan Titmash. We first heard him on MySpace (via a late-night radio show) and were knocked flat by his energy, diverse and creative sample use and production talents. These went on to be amply recognised by Radio One DJs Rob Da Bank, Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe  - despite ‘that sort of music’ being far from their usual music policy. He lives in the South of England, plays gigs anywhere, and yes, that is his real name.

Listen to Alan’s legendary radio play and download his press release here.
